Private Yoga and Grief Support Services
Private yoga is an opportunity to work individually and collaboratively with Sandy to address physical and/or emotional needs more deeply than in a group setting.
Private yoga sessions may be applicable for:
The first class 1.5 hours in length and is used to explore your personal and individual needs. Together, we will develop a plan that we can use to integrate yoga into your daily life, and support you in your grief experience. At the end of this appointment, we will discuss a schedule for a follow-up class(es) based on your needs.
Follow up classes are 1 hour in length and are used to work together on yoga techniques and to provide ongoing support.
Sandy uses a therapeutic model in her private yoga classes. This means that the first class is used to explore your personal needs and to develop goals around what you hope to experience with yoga and grief support. In subsequent classes we will use yoga techniques (movements or poses, breathing, meditation and mudras) to integrate yoga into your life and to bring balance into the areas you feel you need it most.
Sandy follows the "companioning" philosophy of grief support which is a holistic model that recognizes and respects grief and a natural part of life and love. Companioning isn't about fixing or taking grief away, it is about walking side by side and providing support and compassion to hold up and honour your story of life and loss. Companioning honours listening with the heart, bearing witness to pain, and most importantly creating space for the bereaved person to explore and teach about their own needs and experience of grief.
Sandy works with private clients on Wednesday afternoon/early evening and every second thursday.
